FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Chari Chin-Young

Vintage clothing is my favorite trend and has been for a long time. It’s my favorite because it can be very inexpensive and a fun time shopping. I went through my mom's old clothes that were stored in the attic and found great things from the '70s and '80s. Thrift stores and vintage consignment shops are the best place to go if your looking to shop on a budget and want a vintage yet stylish and trendy look. The best thing about thrifting is there is a very low chance that someone else will have your outfit. The worst mistake of shopping in a thrift store is going in looking for something in specific. You will almost never find the same cute blouse you saw in the store a week ago. Shopping in consignment and thrift stores also makes your wardrobe unique. This Fashionista displays thrifting wonderfully with her vintage paisley printed bow blouse.
Name: Chari Chin-Young
Major: Premed Psychology
Year: Junior
CollegeFashionista: Tell me about your outfit?
Chari Chin-Young: Vintage funky royal purple and gold print. This blouse is very special to me because its similar to a Versace '80s print and already attached is a one of a kind bow tie. I love this blouse because it was inexpensive and it is from my favorite place of all time: the thrift store!
CF: What is your most go-to item in your closet and why?
CCY: I absolutely love, love, love bow ties and handkerchiefs, simply because I love male fashion.
CF: What new spring trends have you seen and like? Will you be following any this year?
CCY: Accessory overload, meaning tons of unique bracelets with vibrant colors, and funny shaped hand ring. Yes I will be following this trend because I strongly believe that accessories can make your outfit fabulous! I am also in love with hair jewelry!
CF: Spring Break is around the corner! What are your Spring Break must-haves?
CCY: My Spring Break must-have is confidence, because if you lack it you won’t ever feel excited or happy. Remember you make the clothes, the clothes don’t make you. So go out and have fun! Show off your radiant personality this Spring Break.
How To: Like I stated earlier, thrifting is fun but you can’t find the same item twice. Luckily, I am sure you can find a top that is similar to this one in a retail store. So, if you are not up for the thrifting (it can be time consuming) then J.Crew has a similar paisley printed blouse. Any neutral color pant would look great. Add flats or even booties and your look is complete.

Breaking News: Kanye West Runway Shoes are selling for $6,000

As Kanye West prepares for his second show, the shoes from his fist collection have just hit the sales floor at Colette in Paris and on the boutique's website. Kanye collaborated with Guiseppe Zanotti on the heels. The pearl- embroidered pair (left) is priced at $5,942 , and the black velvet leather strappy sandal (right) is on sell for $950. These are some pretty pricey shoes. I wonder what celebrity will be wearing them?

FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Gettis McGhee

He has been spotted — Georgia Southern’s first Fashionisto. I get extremely excited when I see a guy dressed stylish on campus. I wish more guys would put effort in looking great everyday and not just when they are getting ready to go to the bars. I think I speak for many ladies when I say we enjoy a stylish man.
Camouflage is a hot trend in guy's fashion. Most guys do the traditional camouflage cargo pants or shorts, but this Fashionisto took it to the next level by rocking a camouflage button down. To make a nice Kanye West heartbreaker theme he adds the lego heart pin, which makes a great accessory. This Fashionisto started Georgia Southern off right in the guy's world of fashion on campus.
Name: Gettis McGhee
Major: Fashion Merchanding and Design
Year: Senior
CollegeFashionista: Tell me about your outfit?
Gettis McGhee: I like prints, so I had to keep it simple with the pants. The blue in my loafers and shirt are almost the same shade and that's the reason for the red heart pin because I like complementary colors.
CF: If you could choose any celebrity's closet, whose would it be and why?
GM: The celeb closet I would choose is Kanye West because he is a style icon of mine and he isn't afraid to push the envelope when it comes to statement pieces. Everything is simple yet very well put together because of the statement jewelry or any statement piece he's wearing.
CF: Where do you do most of your shopping?
GM: When it comes to shopping I only go to a few stores: Zara, Urban Outfitters, Goodwill and online. I always tell myself the most expensive thing I wear should be shoes. I buy simple when it comes to clothes, but if I see a piece that I know I will not be able to find somewhere else I will go ahead and get it, if it's a reasonable price.
CF: What accessories or piece of clothing can we usually catch you in?
GM: Rain, sun, whatever, I never go a day without my shades. I wear pins I find and I love loafers and slip-ons.
How To: If I had to name this outfit it would be "The Heart of a Solider." This outfit is more simple than it looks. A camouflage button down top adds a great pattern. He pairs the top with gray pants which are great, because he steps away from the normal and boring blue jean. The blue loafers bring out the color in the top and makes him look really laid-back. Adding the lego heart really gave his outfit a pop of interest and went great with his book bag. Now you try!
